Hugs
Now you don’t have to own, foster, or even know a basset hound to hug one. Introducing the HUG program. Help Us Give: Hope - Safety - Security – Happiness - and most of all Love.

  • Hope to an abandoned basset who has been left alone and afraid - wondering what will happen to him
  • Safety to a lost basset who has been roaming the streets - cold, hungry - not knowing where his home is
  • Security to a frightened basset who has been neglected or abused, not understanding what he did wrong, or why no one cares
  • Happiness to a lonely basset missing belly rubs, snuggles, walks, and napping in the warm sunshine - now just wishing for a kind word and a gentle hand
  • Love to a homeless basset who has a heart full - waiting for a family to share it with

According to Webster: HUG To clasp in ones arms, to embrace, to soothe, to console, to hold fast, to cherish, to stay close to. HUGGABLE One who has an affectionate nature or qualities desirable to hug. Etymology: perhaps of Scandinavian origin; akin to Old Norse hugga to soothe - Date: 1567

All of our homeless bassets need a HUG - some more than others. A HUG is a simple thing...a way to say I care, I’m thinking of you. You can give 1 or 101 - there is no limit. You can give a HUG for a special occasion or for no reason at all. There are no harmful side effects. A HUG is non-fattening, organic, healthy and wholesome. There is no age limit on who can give one. A HUG takes so little energy, yet gives so much. There will always be a needy recipient. A HUG is healthy to the mind and heart. A HUG costs $20 and is tax deductible.

You can HUG anonymously, or you can be acknowledged on the dogs profile page.

Each HUG will go directly to the rescue needs of an abandoned basset hound. Your donation is used judiciously to ensure that each dog is given the care and opportunity t needs to once again be a loved and cherished member of a family - forever.

Please, won’t you give a HUG from the heart. Thanks for helping us help basset hounds.

THE SIZE OF YOUR HEART
It isn’t the size of your house as such,
That matters so much at all;
It’s the gentle hand and it’s loving touch
That make it great or small

The friends who come and the hour they go,
Who out of your house depart;
Will judge it not by the style and show
But rather… by the size of your heart

It isn’t the size of your head so much,
It isn’t the wealth you found;
What will make you happy is how you touch
The others lives that are all around

For making money is not hard,
To live life well is an art;
How people love you and how they regard
Is all in the size of your hearts
